Introducing the Retrofit Vendor Network: a game-changer for Alberta’s retrofit industry

The Alberta Energy Efficiency Alliance (AEEA) is thrilled to announce the launch of the AEEA Retrofit Vendor Network for Large Buildings, a major step forward in accelerating building retrofits across the province.
Alberta is entering a new era of retrofits. With 80% of large buildings constructed before 1990, the need for energy-efficient upgrades has never been more pressing. Retrofitting these buildings represents a massive opportunity to reduce emissions, lower operating costs, and future-proof Alberta’s built environment. Learn more about retrofits here.
The AEEA Retrofit Vendor Network (RVN) is designed to bridge the gap between building owners seeking sustainable upgrades and Alberta’s experienced consultants, contractors, and suppliers specializing in energy efficiency and decarbonization. As a supporting component of the Alberta Ecotrust Retrofit Accelerator, funded by Natural Resources Canada, this network will help strengthen Alberta’s deep retrofit market by expanding access to qualified retrofit providers.
Why this matters
Retrofitting is no longer just an option—it’s an economic and environmental imperative.
Across Alberta, buildings account for 40–60% of carbon emissions in many communities. The province’s construction industry is already leading the way in designing and retrofitting world-class sustainable buildings. The RVN amplifies this expertise, making it easier for building owners to find experienced partners and take action.
“Alberta’s design and construction industry is world-class in building and retrofitting sustainable structures. This network is about putting that expertise front and center, supporting the industry, and accelerating the transition to energy-efficient buildings across the province.”
Jesse Row, Executive Director, AEEA
